Chris Wilder: Wants a promotion charge next term

Wilder signed a new contract last week but admitted he was disappointed after his side finished four points outside the top seven in ninth spot.

The U's found the net seven time without conceding in their final three games, including a convincing final-day 3-0 win over Accrington.

James Constable, Deane Smalley and Sean Rigg were on target while Lee Molyneux saw red for Stanley in the 89th minute.

"I am delighted we finished with a win for everyone who travelled to Accrington," said Wilder. "We kept it tight in the first half and then opened up after the break and scored three good goals.

"I got the chance to introduce a few of the younger players and give them some minutes on the pitch and that can only be good for them.

"We have eight or nine out of contract and, even when we knew we weren't making the play-offs, the players have continued to be professional as they should be and play for personal pride and for the football club.

"We finished ninth and that's not where we want to be so it's about next season now."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
