The Seasiders played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Bolton to close their Championship campaign at the weekend but a 15th-place finish fell well short of expectations for last season's beaten play-off finalists.

Ince must now make decisions on a raft of out-of-contract players while trying to keep hold of his leading lights, most notably his son and England Under-21 star Tom.

"It depends which ones we can keep," he said when asked to assess Blackpool's ambitions for 2013/14. "Now the hard work starts.

"Sometimes it's great. We got our safety against Derby and it was all about enjoyment and celebration but that's when you start thinking 'what do we do next season?'

"The hardest thing for me as a manager is I've had to release nine kids last Friday, which kills you. That's part of the job and now we've got to sit down with 18 players who are out of contract.

"Normally it's about four or five and it's quite easy, you can book your holidays.

"We need to start addressing that, the ones who are going to stay and the ones who are going to go and it needs to be done quickly. I don't want to go into June not knowing that I've got more or less a settled squad."
