The 36-year-old, who scored four goals in his first six Rovers appearances but has started only one game in the last seven months, still has a year on his Ewood Park contract.

But the former Portugal international's brother and agent Tiago Ribiero told the Lancashire Telegraph that Gomes is not intending to ask to leave the Championship club.

"He has another year on his contract and nothing says to me that he will not continue," said Ribeiro.

"We are waiting for news on the coach but he has a final year on his contract. We will have to see what happens with the coach."

Gomes, who has 79 international caps and has played for Benfica and Fiorentina, joined Rovers on a two-year deal last summer after leaving Portuguese side Braga.
