Jesus Fernandez: Napoli's interest in him denied

The Serie A club, whose established number one is former Italy international Morgan de Sanctis, have tonight responded to reports in the Italian press linking the 25-year-old with a move to the Stadio San Paolo.

A statement published on Napoli's official website read: "SSC Napoli categorically denies any contact with either the agents or managers of Jesus Fernandez, Real Madrid's goalkeeper.

"As a consequence, all the rumours reported by the media about our club's interest in the player must be considered as totally unfounded."

Fernandez made just one senior appearance during the 2012-13 campaign as departing manager Jose Mourinho handed him a start against Osasuna on the last day of the Primera Division season.
