Jon Dahl Tomasson has been named as the new head coach of Dutch second division club Excelsior.

Jon Dahl Tomasson: Taken over the reins

The 36-year-old former Denmark international, who counts AC Milan, Newcastle and Feyenoord among his former clubs, had been assistant coach at Excelsior for the past two seasons.

Tomasson told the club's official website: "I'm very happy. This is a great opportunity for me. Excelsior is a very nice club, which appeals to many people. It's a challenge to be the head coach."
