Jones, who made over 100 appearances for the Magpies between 1969-1973, will join Kiwomya in the dug-out as the manager takes charge of his first full season at Meadow Lane.

Jones was Neil Warnock's assistant at the club during their double play-off success in the early 1990s and has had spells at the helm of Mansfield, Peterborough, while also being number two at Derby and Nottingham Forest.

A County statement read: "Everyone at Meadow Lane would like to welcome Mick back to the club and wish him all the very best in the future campaign."
