Wilson Palacios: Will be given the chance to resurrect his Stoke career

The Honduras international moved to Stoke in August 2011 but started just nine Premier League games in his first season and then none last term after falling out of favour with former boss Tony Pulis.

But with next to no interest from other clubs in the player and with new boss Hughes at the helm, the 28-year-old is expected to return to pre-season training in just over a fortnight where he will have the chance to press his claims again.

Stoke chairman Peter Coates told The Sentinel: "He will be back for pre-season training along with everybody else as things stand at the moment.

"I know he has played for Honduras recently and so let's hope that has done him some good.

"Mark wants to have a good close look at everybody when they do return to the club because he wants to make his own assessment of what is in front of him."

Meanwhile, Coates confirmed there had been no serious bids for any Stoke player at present.

"It is that time of year when everybody is away," he said. "Things will start moving again when people begin returning from their holidays and the like."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
