The Gers have been able to draft Cammy Bell into their ranks from Kilmarnock, but saw him pick up a knock during the final training session of their Highland tour.

Assistant manager McDowall concedes that depth is required in the keeping department, with Ally McCoist already mulling over a couple of options.

He said: "It's a position that we'd like to add.

"There are still one or two players in different positions on the radar at the moment."

Meanwhile, McDowall has confirmed that the Gers are hoping to extend Bilel Mohsni's trial spell.

It is hoped that the versatile Frenchman, who was released by Southend United at the start of the summer, will figure in friendly clashes with Elgin and Bristol City before a decision is taken on his future.

McDowall added: "He did well against Brora and looked very comfortable.

"He was aggressive. We'll monitor him in training and games and then decide.

"We're hoping he'll be with us for the Bristol City game because that'll be a better standard again."
