Akwasi Asante: Back with Birmingham after brief loan spell

Asante impressed on his Shrews bow on Saturday, when they beat Swindon 2-0, after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season.

The 20-year-old is needed at St Andrew's with Nikola Zigic out of action until at least the end of September's international break with a back injury.

Peter Lovenkrands is struggling with a niggle he suffered in training and Marlon King is still looking for a new club after being told he was free to leave, according to the club's official website.

Asante, whose only Blues appearance came in the Europa League against Nacional, could find himself in Lee Clark's squad for their next Sky Bet Championship clash, which comes on Saturday at Leicester City.
