Matt Etherington: Impressed by Mark Hughes

Hughes replaced Tony Pulis at Stoke earlier this summer and the former Blackburn and Manchester City boss is looking to implement a new style of football at the club.

Etherington has been impressed by Hughes' ideas and feels the whole squad are fully behind the manager's plans as they look to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Liverpool when they take on Crystal Palace this weekend

"I speak for every one of the lads when I say everyone is buying into what the manager is trying to implement here and everyone is looking forward to the season ahead, Etherington told the Stoke Sentinel.

"If you're a Stoke City fan you can definitely see improvement in the team in an offensive sense and the fact we want to get the ball down.

"I can only see good things for us this year, definitely.

"It's a big game against Palace. It's imperative we pick up early points, and if we play like we did at Liverpool in certain areas of the game, and even improve, then I'm sure we will."

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.

'Tactically Inept And Lacking In Belief And Style'

It's fair to say that the 'Moyes Out' brigade is understandably out in force, whilst there are also staunch defences of Mourinho and Arteta. Plus, Liverpool fans can almost taste it.
