Michael Wiesinger: Saw his side beaten by Bayern Munich

Bayern's 2-0 win over their Bavarian rivals at the Allianz Arena on Saturday was their 28th league game in a row without defeat, a new club record and only eight short of the Bundesliga record.

Wiesinger has no doubts Bayern will come through their next eight games unscathed too having witnessed first hand how strong they are.

"We just ran out of petrol in the second half while Bayern are simply a machine," he said.

"We fought really well and showed passion. The players helped one another and that gives me confidence for the coming weeks.

"Overall, though, it was a deserved win for Bayern."

Pep Guardiola's tactical acumen was put to the test by Nurnberg, who have frequently caused Bayern problems in recent seasons with their defensive resilience.

That caught the eye of the Catalan coach, who was nevertheless pleased with the way his side stuck at the task and got their rewards.

"I'm pleased with the way we controlled the game," he said. "Nurnberg were very compact and well organized and it's hard to play against such opponents.

"But we did not let them have many chances and that was important for me. We then played better in the second half and were quick in attack with Ribery and Robben."

The win took Bayern into a four-team tie at the top of the Bundesliga with a perfect record of three wins out of three, and they can move clear on Tuesday night when they travel to Freiburg in a fixture brought forward in view of Friday's UEFA Super Cup.

However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
