Wes Foderingham: Pleased with his performance

Foderingham was Town's standout performer in front of a sold-out County Ground as he made a some impressive saves, blocking Fernando Torres with his face and then parrying well from Juan Mata just minutes later, only for Torres to poke home the rebound.

And despite being frustrated with the defeat after Town's largely solid performance, which he felt lacked a killer instinct in attack, the stopper believes there are plenty of positives to take.

"I think I had a decent game but that's probably expected as I'm going to have a lot more to do playing against a decent side," Foderingham told Press Association Sport.

"I was a little bit disappointed with the first goal as I made a decent save (from Mata), looked around and I saw Torres tap it in from a yard out. But I was happy with my own performance."

Foderingham added: "I think we played well, not great, but we stuck to our principles, tried to play the ball out from the back, did well in possession but I just didn't think we had the cutting edge in front of goal that they had.

"I think losing 2-0 to one of the best sides in Europe is definitely no disgrace, we did well and can come away with our heads held high. We've definitely had a learning experience out there.

"You can definitely see the difference in quality, nine times out of 10 when they see an opening they're going to play the right pass and they did that well."

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
