Sean O'Driscoll: Confirmed James O'Connor required surgery

The defender, on loan at Bristol City from Derby, sustained a 2cm tear in his thigh muscle during the Robins' 3-2 defeat at Swindon.

City head coach Sean O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "The tear in Jimmy's thigh muscle is likely to require an operation.

"It's every bit as bad as we feared at the time and he is going to be out for a long time."

O'Driscoll is currently looking to bolster his defensive ranks with the addition of a loanee.
