The Scotland international has been left kicking his heels on the sidelines for much of the campaign, first under Steve Clarke and then Mel.

Dorrans, who is out of contract in the summer, almost left the club earlier this year but a move to Championship Middlesbrough fell through on deadline day.

In recent weeks Mel has decided to recall Dorrans, who is now a firm fixture in his midfield and he scored his first goal of the season in the weekend draw with Cardiff.

But, despite the fact his long-term future appears to lie away from The Hawthorns, Mel is set to continue to use Dorrans.

"He is a magnificent footballer," Mel said.

"He's extremely committed to the cause and his performances are getting increasingly better.

"He could be a key player for us.

"Cardiff was the third game that he's played. He played at Swansea, Hull and barring anything going wrong he will play at Norwich.

"He's a player I trust in and he's performing very well."

ever ceases to amaze me when ex players come out with comments like that. Clearly they have zero interest in the best interests of a club that provided them with a living to be making such idiotic and boorish comments as that. Shame on you Jimmy Case.

ait, so now he can get injured when he's not on international duty? It's almost as if his previous injury could've happened at any time and being with the England squad had nothing to do with it.
