Dawson has spent pre-season with the Magpies and has now put pen to paper on a one-month deal ahead of the League One opener against Preston at Deepdale on Saturday.

The 21-year-old spent his youth years at Liverpool and Bury before signing his first professional contract with Wigan, where he gained first-team experience with loan stints at Accrington, Bacup Borough, FC United of Manchester, Barrow and Nelson.

After a successful trial with Leicester, Dawson impressed the Foxes during his first season and he has since had his contract renewed by the Premier League newcomers.

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
