The prolific 24-year-old, previously linked with Newcastle and Tottenham, is poised to bring his talents to the Premier League next season, with Norwich paying cash-strapped Sporting a fee in the region of £8.5m.

Van Wolfswinkel would bring much needed firepower to the Canaries squad, with Norwich having scored just 28 goals in the league this season - only Stoke and bottom side QPR have managed less.

He joined Sporting from Utrecht in the summer of 2011 and has been a regular goal scorer since, despite the team suffering a slump this season that has put them in an unusual lower mid-table position.

His deal with the Portuguese side was due to run until the summer of 2016 but they are reported to be in serious financial trouble, forcing them to offload the striker for much less than his reported £19m buyout clause.

He made his Holland debut against Ukraine back in 2010, getting on the score-sheet as well, but has not yet added to that single cap despite being called into a number of squads.

We were after him this January, but the deal could not be finalised. Looks like its put to bed now and we welcome him to Carrow Road. Quality player, and was very highly rated a couple of years ago when compared to Van Basten and Van Persie. Unlike some tall players, he is actually good in the air, and has guile and craft (and an eye for goal) which we desperately need in the final 3rd. Check out his stuff on you-tube - impressive!

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
