Charlie Austin has been left to shoulder the attacking burden at Loftus Road following injuries to Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson, and Redknapp feels he needs reinforcements.

He told Sky Sports News: "We are trying. Bobby Zamora has had an operation on his knee so he will be out until Christmas time, and Andy Johnson has picked up a bit of an injury so he will be out for a little while, hopefully it won't be too long.

"So at the moment Charlie is playing up on his own. He has done great for us and led the line well, but we are looking to get at least one in.

"Every club needs two or three strikers, you can't survive with one. That's obvious."

Adebayor has been linked with a switch to QPR and Redknapp admits he would love to be reunited with the striker, having worked together at Tottenham Hotspur.

Adebayor has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane this season but Redknapp is not sure a deal would be possible.

"I would love Manny here but I couldn't see him dropping down to the Championship," said Redknapp.

"You never know. If he would we'd love to have him, but it would be difficult."

Redknapp is also keen to strengthen his defensive options after an injury to Nedum Onuoha left Clint Hill and Richard Dunne as his only fit centre-backs.

"We lost Nedum Onuoha as well. He'd been in great form," said Redknapp.

"He did his hamstring the other day and is going to be out for a couple of months, so Clint goes back into centre-half but that leaves us with two senior players, him and Richard Dunne

"They are both outstanding players, but no cover."

aha, as a German supporting United I can only agree with your great insight in German football! No idea why, but I HATE Eintracht Braunschweig and please don't ever place a bet on Leverkusen, they mess up my ticket every time!
