Deon Burton celebrates his goal for Charlton.

Charlton moved back to the top of the League One table but saw their 100% record ended by former manager Alan Pardew as Southampton held them to a 1-1 draw.

The visitors opened the scoring when Adam Lallana lashed in a pass from Wayne Thomas three minutes before half-time but Deon Burton responded immediately after the break when he headed in Jonjo Shelvey's excellent cross for his fourth goal of the season.

Charlton's superior goal difference sees them remain above Leeds, who were held to a goalless draw at Southend on Friday night.

Bristol Rovers moved into third place, four points Oldham, who have slipped further down the table.

Huddersfield dropped a place into fourth after their free-scoring ways were halted by Brentford who held their hosts to a goaless draw.

A 1-1 draw between Swindon and Colchester left them occupying the remaining play-off places in the fledgling league table.

On-loan Bolton forward Temitope Obadeyi fired the equaliser for Swindon in first-half stoppage time after Ashley Vincent had put the visitors ahead in the 21st minute.

Gillingham's impressive home form continued as they cruised past Millwall 2-0 to record their third victory of the season at the Priestfield Stadium.

They made the perfect start when Andy Barcham thundered them into a sixth-minute lead by firing into the top corner from distance.

And the points were sealed when Curtis Weston also fired home from outside the area just before half-time.

At the other end of the table Wycombe picked up their first away point with a 1-1 draw at Hartlepool.

Peter Taylor's side took the lead when Scott Beavon picked up possession 30 yards from goal and fired home but Hartlepool were level 11 minutes from time when Sam Collins headed on a free-kick and Adam Boyd volleyed it in.

Tranmere also looked on course for a point before a late goal condemned them to a 3-2 defeat at home to Walsall.

Chris Shuker put Tranmere ahead in the 11th minute but Darren Byfield tapped in an equaliser on the stroke of half-time and Troy Deeney fired home a loose ball two minutes after the break.

Alan Mahon drove in an equaliser for the hosts but Deeney won it with a close-range finish seven minutes from time.

A vintage performance from veteran striker Nicky Forster earned Brighton their first away win of the season at Carlisle.

The 36-year-old took advantage of the space he was allowed to coolly lob past goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley before getting on the end of a Liam Dickinson cross to poke home from a couple of yards out.

Elsewhere, Yeovil twice came from behind to snatch a point against Stockport despite playing with 10 men for 70 minutes.

Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was red-carded for fouling Nicholas Bignall and Carl Baker scored from the spot.

Yeovil drew level with a smart finish from Gavin Tomlin before Baker scored his second in first-half stoppage time but Sam Williams equalised with a late header.

A spectacular second-half goal from debutant midfielder Craig Noone left Leyton Orient still looking for their first home win of the season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Exeter.

Charlie Daniels put the home side ahead when his 30-yard free-kick took a huge deflection to find the net before Noone shot from 45 yards and saw his effort bounce into the net.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

I

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.

den Hazard, def. - 1) that girl in a club who makes eyes at you all night, who allows you to buy her a drink and walk her home arm in arm, who then gives you a suggestive kiss on her doorstep before declaring how tired she is and how she has to be up early the next day. 2) A cock tease.
