Steve Bruce: Has Hull on an upward curve

Steve Bruce: Has Hull on an upward curve

Our expert Craig Chisnall has previewed Tuesday's Championship programme and thinks Hull will beat Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace make their second trip north to Yorkshire this week and I fear it could be another miserable one at fellow Hull.

Both teams suffered shock defeats at the weekend, Burnley beating the Tigers 1-0 and Ian Holloway losing his 100 per-cent start as Eagles boss at Leeds, so expect it to be tight in this one.

Holloway has already tasted victory at the KC this season as former club Blackpool came from 2-1 down to triumph 3-2 but City, despite Saturday's setback, have improved since then.

The addition of Fulham's highly-rated goalkeeper David Stockdale is a huge boost for the Tigers and this will be a real test of the Eagles promotion credentials.

It's no surprise that a Steve Bruce team are proving difficult to breach at the back and they are improving at the other end too.

Former Rangers winger Sone Aluko is proving a fine signing and his goal tally is now up to eight for the season.

If he's on song the Eagles won't have things their own way and I will be backing Bruce's boys.

Before Saturday's stunning win over Palace, Leeds had been been having a real struggle of late but Elland Road remains a difficult place to go and they are too big a price to ignore at home to Leicester.

Buoyed by Saturday's success and an impending takeover of the club by Middle East-based private equity group GFH Capital Leeds fans will relish the arrival of another of the fancied sides.

Boss Neil Warnock is set to be handed a much-needed transfer war-chest in the January transfer window but on their day they still have the quality to trouble all teams in the Championship.

I think it will be tight against the high-flying Foxes but Nigel Pearson's men have been inconsistent on the road this term and Leeds are well worth considering if you are looking for value.

Brighton and Charlton were both hit by late sucker punches at the weekend but I can't see them slipping up at home to Bristol City and Peterborough respectively.

The Seagulls would have gone back into the top six until David Ngog's 90th equaliser nabbed Bolton a point while Adam Clayton's 88th minute spot-kick for ten-man Huddersfield denied the Addicks a fourth straight win.

Both have been in good form and have strong home records so they are odds-on to get back to winning ways. In a double they should net a healthy return.

On the road the price that stands out is on Watford to heap more misery on plummeting Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls are on a woeful run, losing their last four and patience on the Hillsborough terraces is running out with boss Dave Jones.

The Hornets on the other hand are steadily improving, unbeaten in five, after a summer of upheaval and were only denied another win on the road at Blackpool at the weekend by a last-gasp equaliser.

At 2-1 they look a great price to keep Wednesday firmly in trouble.

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.

f you want to take six points off Arsenal, then that's a great strike force. Can't imagine either of them showing much for the rest of the season though...
