Lassana Diarra: Ends career with France

The Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder has not been called up for Les Bleus since August 2010 and he claims he has paid the price for publicly praising former coach Raymond Domenech.

Domenech handed the 28-year-old his international debut in 2007 but then presided over France's dismal World Cup campaign in South Africa after which he left the post.

Successor Laurent Blanc included him in his first squad but Diarra was then overlooked and that situation has not changed under current France boss Didier Deschamps.

Diarra told L'Equipe: "The Blues is finished.

"It was great - I met (Patrick) Vieira, (Lilian) Thuram, (Claude) Makelele and (David) Trezeguet.

"I also met Raymond Domenech who got me started with Les Bleus.

"I praised him in the media but that did not please his successor who thought I was pro-Domenech. I was just pro-France team."
