Snow made conditions for Costa Rica's trip to USA difficult

FIFA have rejected Costa Rica's bid to have last week's 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to USA replayed on the grounds of adverse weather in Denver.

Heavy snow made conditions in Colorado testing and Costa Rica quickly lodged a complaint in the aftermath of the result, which left them bottom of the final-round standings.

But a FIFA statement read: "FIFA has examined the content of the letter and, taking into consideration... World Cup regulations, has confirmed that the

conditions established in the regulations for an official protest have not been

met by the Costa Rica FA.

"Therefore, the result of the match played on March 22 stands and is considered as valid."

Costa Rican FA president Eduardo Li said of the conditions: "It was terrible. While the match was being played, at the same time, machines and people came on to the field to clean the lines."

air play to the lad. I'd like to think I 'd have no fear of heading off to the other side of the world to coach, but in truth, I don't have the cajones. Hopefully he can make a decent living out of it.
