Harry Redknapp: Wants a squad overhaul ahead of new season

QPR manager Harry Redknapp admits he has a difficult task on his hands offloading unwanted players in order to bring in recruits more suited to the npower Championship.

Redknapp criticised the attitude of some of his squad after Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Liverpool, revealing one player had been fined more than he earned in the last month.

With only second-tier football to look forward to next season the Rs boss knows significant changes have to be made but much is dependent on getting rid of unwanted players - many of whom are on big wages.

But Redknapp suggested he was not prepared to continue if those stars who have caused him problems were not offloaded.

Asked whether he wanted to carry on he said: "Sure, see what happens.

"I want to put a team together that comes in every day looking forward to work.

"If I couldn't do something in the summer and change it around then I wouldn't want to come back.

"I don't need the aggro of people coming in late, fining players every day.

"I don't need to come to work and have aggravation. I need a group who are pleased to play football, want to learn and take a bit of pride in what they do.

"You have people like Clint Hill and Shaun Derry who give everything. There is a good group, Rob Green is not a problem.

"There is a little group I need to shift and get some new blood in. It ain't going to be easy to shift players.

"You can always shift the good players people want. It is going to be a difficult one."

Having invested heavily in January with striker Loic Remy and Christopher Samba, two of their higher earners, costing upwards of £20million.

Redknapp knows he will not be able to recruit similar quality in the summer with no Barclays Premier League football on offer.

"I learned a lot from day one. I knew what we had here but we were short of quality. It's been a mismatch of a squad," he added.

"We are looking at a different level now, we're not looking at top players.

"We're looking for players that can get you out of the Championship next year.

"It's not going to be easy, it's a tough division full of quality, big clubs - bigger clubs than QPR.

"We've got no divine right to come out of the league next year."

One player QPR will look to get off the wage bill permanently will be Joey Barton, who has spent this season on loan at Marseille.

The midfielder has expressed his desire to remain in France where he appears to be enjoying his football.

"The reason I want to continue in Marseille is simple," Barton told Canal+.

"I am very happy with my life here and with my relationship with the players. This is about more than money.

"The fans have not seen the real Barton and I want to show them my real level of play."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
