Andy Carroll: Will serve a three-match ban

West Ham striker Andy Carroll will serve a three-match ban after his appeal for the red card shown in Saturday's win over Swansea was dismissed by the Football Association.

The 25-year-old England forward was sent off by referee Howard Webb following a tussle with Swansea's Chico Flores, having set up both of Kevin Nolan's goals as the Hammers picked up just their fifth Barclays Premier League win of the season.

Carroll sent a Tweet on Tuesday afternoon suggesting he was aware of the decision as he simply wrote: "DISGRACEFUL".

He will now miss the Hammers' next three fixtures, starting with Saturday's clash with Aston Villa, after only featuring in four league games so far this season following a lengthy injury lay-off.

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
