Burnley boss Eddie Howe has paid tribute to Barry Kilby following his decision to step down as chairman at the end of the season.
Kilby, who has been at the Clarets helm for the last 13 years, will step down in May to focus his attention on battling cancer.
"I had dealings with the chairman early on and I found him to be very level-headed, a football man with good opinions on the game," Howe told the club's official website.
"He doesn't interfere with what I'm trying to do and that's what a manager wants. He's been a reassuring presence in the background and if I've needed him he's always been there.
"The job that he has done here has been second to none. As part of the board he has transformed the club's fortunes from when he took over to where we are now.
"He deserves tremendous credit. In this day and age it's getting harder and harder to run a football club on an even keel.
"I can't speak highly enough of him or the job that he's done and our thoughts of course are with him and his family. We hope he makes a full recovery."
