England have named a provisional 35-man squad for the upcoming Under-20 World Cup.

A number of the squad have Premier League experience, including Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, Southampton's James Ward-Prowse and Tottenham forward Harry Kane.

There is a first call-up for Newcastle midfielder Gael Bigirimana, Leeds full-back Sam Byram, West Brom defender Donervorn Daniels and Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard.

"There's players on there like Ross Barkley of Everton, who has played for the first team this year, John Lundstram, who is also at Everton but has been out on loan at Doncaster this year and James Ward-Prowse at Southampton," said head coach Peter Taylor.

"Nathan Redmond of Birmingham has had an outstanding season and is a clever winger. He can play as a number 10, as they call it, also.

"Sam Byram, everyone thinks he's going to go to the Premier League. I did speak to Brian McDermott and he's desperate to keep him. He's really happy with him.

"And there are players like [Adam] Reach and [Luke] Williams of Middlesbrough, who have had decent seasons in the Championship.

"So there are players there who have a lot of experience playing with Premier League teams.

"I am convinced they will have a great experience from this tournament."

The squad will be trimmed to 21 players on 7 June.

The World Cup will take place in Turkey between 21 June and 13 July and England have been drawn in Group E alongside Iraq, Chile and Egypt.
