Injury problems for England

Wayne Rooney, Phil Jones, Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson look set to miss England's World Cup qualifiers.

Wayne Rooney is expected to be ruled out of England's World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine after sustaining a nasty head injury during training ahead of the Premier League game between Liverpool and Manchester United.

The striker missed the game at Anfield and is unlikely to join up with Roy Hodgson's England squad along with three casualties from Sunday's game on Merseyside.

Rooney's United teammate Phil Jones is another possible England absentee after being substituted during the first half of the contest with an ankle problem.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson will also be unavailable for the brace of qualifiers.

England face Moldova at Wembley this Friday, while the Ukraine match takes place in Kiev the following Tuesday.

As for Rooney, his manager Moyes said: "He got a cut down the middle of his forehead, completely accidental, but it was quite a bad cut.

"It will probably keep him out for around three weeks."

With Rooney and Sturridge set to miss the vital Group H games, it leaves Hodgson with just Jermain Defoe, Rickie Lambert and Danny Welbeck as out-and-out strikers.

f Klopp is available and willing to go there, they have to sign him up. Far better manager than Rodgers. The reason Liverpool fail in so many big games is the inflexible nature of their manager and his inability to find strikers who fit into his inflexible style of play. A feature of nearly every game that the team comes up short is the way the opposition midfield appears to overpower them. It's too easy.

est player award should not go to a player who's second best at all the importent categories (i.e goals, assists etc) just because his team is at the top. If you are not first you are last; if you're second you are the first loser ( looking at you Hazard). David De Gea for POTY.
