Wembley: Landmark partner deal with EE

A new multi-million pound partnership deal has been agreed between Wembley Stadium and communications giant EE - but the famous venue's name will remain.

The six-year agreement is not a naming rights deal, but is the first time Wembley has signed a lead partner. It begins immediately, ahead of the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.

There had been reports last year that the Football Association-owned stadium was pursuing a naming rights deal, but a statement stressed: "The world-renowned name of the stadium will remain."

The deal will see 'technology road map' making enhanced 4G coverage, super-fast wi-fi and mobile payment solutions made available to fans who go to the venue.

Wembley chairman Melvin Benn said: "Wembley Stadium marked its 90th anniversary in 2013 and this partnership shows that we're looking to the future and ensuring that we fulfil our ambition to offer inspiring memories, whilst bringing innovation to the stadium at a much faster rate and providing services that are at the forefront of consumer engagement and technology.

"As stadia around the world become increasingly more technologically advanced, EE is the perfect partner to assist us in fulfilling that goal, giving event owners and their fans the best possible and unforgettable shared experiences."

ever ceases to amaze me when ex players come out with comments like that. Clearly they have zero interest in the best interests of a club that provided them with a living to be making such idiotic and boorish comments as that. Shame on you Jimmy Case.

ait, so now he can get injured when he's not on international duty? It's almost as if his previous injury could've happened at any time and being with the England squad had nothing to do with it.
