Tevez: Trip back to Argentina

Carlos Tevez was a guest but did not play in his former Argentina team-mate Martin Palermo's farewell match in Buenos Aires.

There had been reports that Manchester City striker Tevez had agreed to play in the benefit game for Boca Juniors favourite Palermo at the Bombonera stadium. Striker Palermo retired last year, and the 38-year-old was feted by many former team-mates.

However Tevez limited his appearance to a half-time salute to supporters of the club where he began his career as a teenager, who responded, according to a report on the La Nacion newspaper website, by chanting, "Leave the English and come back here".

The Argentinian's future remains the subject of great interest, as he has not played for City since becoming embroiled in a dispute with the club in September, following his failure to warm up during a Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich.

It was widely anticipated he would leave during the transfer window, but interest from Inter Milan, AC Milan and Paris St Germain did not lead to a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

City refused to enter into discussions over a loan deal for the 27-year-old, scuppering AC Milan's plans for a transfer.

Tevez has appealed to the Premier League against a six-week fine imposed by City for his ongoing absence.

City imposed the fine after finding Tevez guilty of gross misconduct on December 22.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.

den Hazard, def. - 1) that girl in a club who makes eyes at you all night, who allows you to buy her a drink and walk her home arm in arm, who then gives you a suggestive kiss on her doorstep before declaring how tired she is and how she has to be up early the next day. 2) A cock tease.
