Petr Cech: Eyeing Europa League success with Chelsea

Petr Cech has urged Chelsea to ease the hurt of their early UEFA Champions League exit by lifting the Europa League trophy this season.

Last year's Champions League winners became the first holders to be dumped out at the group stage of the competition this season and were relegated to the Europa League for the first time.

Goalkeeper Cech admits their situation is not ideal but is looking at their venture into Europe's second-class tournament as a chance for Chelsea to add a different piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet.

He told The Sun: "It's not great that we're playing in the Europa League because we wanted to be in the last 16 of the Champions League.

"I was watching the Celtic versus Juventus game the other night and we should be there. But we're not and that is down to our own mistakes.

"But I've never played in the Europa League or the UEFA Cup and for me it's an interesting experience.

"People will say it's not a great competition but if I have to play in it I want to win it. It's the chance to win a competition the club has never won.

"And if we can win the Europa League it means we can play in the Super Cup again next season and become one of the few clubs in Europe to have won every competition.

"It's a chance to make history even if it's not the way we might have wanted at the start of the season."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
