Torres: We're all friends

Fernando Torres: Happy with Samuel Eto'o signing

Fernando Torres is adamant he is not "enemies" with Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o, and has welcomed the new competition for places in Chelsea's attack.

Chelsea signed Eto'o from Anzhi Makhachkala in the final days of the summer transfer window before Jose Mourinho allowed Romelu Lukaku to join Everton on loan on deadline day.

Eto'o was thrown straight into the starting line-up for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Everton, with Torres demoted to the bench after the Spaniard had started Chelsea's previous game against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Super Cup.

However, Torres has no problems with the arrival of Eto'o at Stamford Bridge and is confident the competition will help Chelsea's quest for success.

"There is now more competition up front but Demba, Samuel and me are not enemies, we are friends," Torres told Chelsea TV. "We are team-mates and are fighting for the same targets. I think it's really good for the team.

"Eto'o is one of the best strikers I have ever seen. I played against him in Spain many times and you can see the record he had there with Real Mallorca and Barcelona, as well as in Inter.

"I am sure he is going to really enjoy this period of his career with Chelsea. He is training really well, I wish him all the best and will help him in every way that I can.

"To win everything. That can be realistic because we have a great squad. We have to think positive.

"Having players who can regain the ball and be really quick is one of the big qualities we have this season in our squad. We have those type of players up front and on the wings.

"That is good for us to play in the space behind. The main thing is to take it step by step, score goals, work for the team and do well when we have the chance and win a trophy.

"Our training has been really good. The tempo is really good.

"In the beginning it is always like this, everyone wants to show [what they can do] and prove that they're ready to play. We will see during the season how things are going but as of today everything is good."

I

s it the same people that complain about Chelsea that complain about Mayweather? You should by now know what to expect from both, if you can't appreciate how good they are at nullifying their opponents then don't watch them.

I

do concede though, that getting rid of Luiz has made them less entertaining. In the same way that driving with both eyes open is less exciting, but probably a good idea.
