Kenneth Omeruo: Has joined Middlesbrough

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has completed his loan move to Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old Nigeria international has arrived at the Riverside Stadium after manager Aitor Karanka used his relationship with Jose Mourinho, under whom he worked at Real Madrid, to good effect.

Karanka told the club's official website: "Kenneth is a strong defender and I think we need to improve in this area.

"I know him and Jose has told me about him, and I think he's going to be very good for us to add to the squad."

Omeruo joined Chelsea from Belgian side Standard Liege in January 2012 and went straight out on loan to Den Haag in Holland.

He has 14 senior caps to his name and was part of the Nigeria squad for both their African Nations Cup triumph and the Confederations Cup in Brazil last year.
