KENNY KEEN TO LEARN FROM LANE LOSS

Kenny Dalglish says memories of a hammering at White Hart Lane will help as Spurs visit Anfield.

Kenny Dalglish: 'Nothing is completely forgotten'

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes memories of his side's chastening experience at the hands of Tottenham earlier this season will come in handy when the two meet at Anfield on Monday.

The 4-0 defeat remains the Reds' heaviest since Dalglish took over for a second spell in January last year, although it did arrive in mitigating circumstance.

After Luka Modric's brilliant early strike put Spurs ahead, Liverpool had Charlie Adam sent off with less than half-an-hour gone but following the dismissal of Martin Skrtel the visitors were overrun and conceded a further three goals.

Dalglish accepts his team did not play well that day but expects a different display when Harry Redknapp's side - the last team to win a Barclays Premier League match at Anfield - arrive on Merseyside.

And he feels their September loss at White Hart Lane will provide some good reference points.

"Nothing is completely forgotten about," he said.

"Everything that you have learned and experienced you have in the bank and if you have to use it you use it.

"We went there and lost a wonder goal to Modric and Charlie Adam got sent off early on so it was always going to be uphill from there.

"It was certainly not a pleasant trip but there are positives you can take away from anything.

"All the time it is educational and whatever you have learned you use to your benefit as best you can."

After success in cup competitions over Manchester City and Manchester United, the league's top two sides, Liverpool maintained their good form with a 3-0 win at Wolves in midweek.

That has all-but wiped away recollections of the dismal 3-1 defeat at Bolton late last month, but Dalglish knows his players will have to maintain their high standards if they are not to allow all their hard work over the last 10 days or so to be undone.

If it is any comfort to the Scot, his team have performed better against the top sides with wins over Arsenal and Chelsea (who they also beat in the Carling Cup), and draws against Manchester United and City.

"They are one of the better teams in the Premier League," said Dalglish.

"If you're only five points off the top and there are 15 or 16 games left, I think the law of maths would tell you they are (title) contenders."

"They had a difficult start, lost to Manchester United and got beat 5-1 at home by Manchester City when Harry was still getting a few players back.

"But since then they have kicked on and been fantastic in the way they have played and the teams they have beaten.

"But we are not looking to see what Spurs can gain out of it, for us we want three points and that will help us more than one point.

"We will only consider what we have to do. Spurs are as good a side in the Premier League as any other.

"It is a difficult game for us but we are looking forward to it and we'll give it a go."

Dalglish will be boosted by the return of striker Luis Suarez after Tuesday's game at Molineux marked the final game of the Uruguay international eight-match ban imposed after he was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra.

Captain Steven Gerrard, who had started six successive matches on top of three substitute appearances after returning from two months out with an ankle infection, was rested against Wolves.

However, Dalglish said the England midfielder would be back in the team to face Spurs.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

I

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.
