DALGLISH HAS FAITH IN METHODS

Kenny Dalglish doesn't think there's much wrong with Liverpool's methods despite patchy home form.

Kenny Dalglish: 'Not too far away'

Liverpool's patchy home form will come under the microscope again on Monday night when high-flying Tottenham visit but manager Kenny Dalglish does not believe there is much wrong with their methods, only results.

Spurs are the only side to have beaten the Reds at Anfield since the Scot took over for a second spell in charge last January, winning 2-0 in the penultimate fixture of last season.

However, this campaign a number of clubs have left Merseyside more than happy with a point as the likes of newcomers Norwich and Swansea, as well as relegation candidates Blackburn, have contributed to seven draws in 11 games.

It is to their credit, after dropping 14 points at home, that Liverpool still remain in contention for a top-four finish.

And with Anfield having recently seen Dalglish's team hold off Manchester City to reach the Carling Cup final and then knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup last weekend there is a feeling that their fortunes may be changing.

"We could have - and I think we deserve - a lot more points than what we have got," said Dalglish.

"I think the performances have deserved it but we haven't got them.

"We'll just keep plugging away. We believe in what we're doing and the way we're going about our work has, in the main, been in the right way, so we'll just continue to do that.

"Whether you're at home or whether you're away, when you're playing for Liverpool Football Club you're expected to do the best you can and you're expected to get as much as you can from every game.

"There are a lot of games we've drawn at Anfield that maybe we could have won, and even if we'd taken four more wins from the seven draws we'd have eight more points.

"We're not too far away. We'll keep going and see what happens at the end of the season."

Dalglish is keen, however, not to allow his side to get carried away after following up success against the Manchester clubs with a comfortable 3-0 win at Wolves in midweek as the woeful 3-1 defeat at Bolton still loiters at the back of his mind.

"We're not getting carried away. We were good enough, strong enough and realistic enough after the Bolton game to pick ourselves up, regroup and get the last three results," he added.

"Because of the positive results, it doesn't mean to say they (the players) are going to get carried away - and that's good for us.

"We said last week we had 16 league games left, we've got a Carling Cup final and a fifth round FA Cup tie to play, and we'll do as best we can to get as much as we can from those games.

"We knocked one of them off with the victory at Wolves and as well as a victory it was a really good performance."

Striker Luis Suarez is set to return to the squad having served his eight-match man after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

His comeback adds competition to a forward line which has started to find

form in recent matches with Andy Carroll scoring his first league goal since October against Wolves and Dirk Kuyt, who previously only had one Carling Cup goal, hitting the net in successive matches.

The Holland international's strike at Molineux was his 50th league goal for the club and after his struggles this season Dalglish was pleased for the persevering forward, although he stressed no-one could be guaranteed a starting place.

"To get the winner against Manchester United last weekend will have given him huge encouragement," said the Scot.

"Every player will tell you they thrive on playing games. They certainly don't thrive on being on the treatment table - and if they did we certainly wouldn't want them here any way.

"Everyone wants to play and that is a good thing."

Kuyt has admitted he has found his infrequent appearances tough but he has remained professional and is finally starting to get the rewards.

"It's great to achieve 50 goals for this club in the Premier League," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"Not many people have done that at this club and also from my country not many people have done that, so to reach that target is great.

"I had to wait a while for it but I knew it was coming and I just kept working hard."

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

I

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.
