Andre Villas-Boas and Gareth Bale: Double celebration

Andre Villas-Boas and Gareth Bale have won the latest Barclays Premier League manager and player of the month awards respectively.

The honours are recognition for Tottenham's fine recent run, masterminded by Villas-Boas' acumen and underpinned by the unstinting excellence of the Welsh winger.

During the month the club won three Premier League games to cement their grip on a Champions League berth and booked their passage to the last 16 of the Europa League with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Lyon.

Should they win the north London derby on Sunday they would move seven points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal with 10 games remaining.

Bale, one of the leading contenders for the player of the year awards on the back of an outstanding season, scored seven times in five club appearances in February.

It is the second monthly recognition for Villas-Boas since he took over at White Hart Lane last summer, having also been recognised for his efforts in December.
