Barnsley have completed the signing of Leyton Orient skipper Stephen Dawson for an undisclosed fee.
Orient accepted an improved undisclosed offer for Dawson and the 26-year-old midfielder has now signed a two-and-half-year contract with the Tykes.
Dawson told Barnsley's official website: "I'd like to bring non-stop energy to the team - up and down the pitch for 90 minutes."
The former Republic of Ireland youth international began his career at Leicester and then made over 100 appearances for Mansfield before spending two years at Bury. He signed for Orient in 2010.
Dawson featured 75 times for Orient but his contract was due to expire at the end of this campaign.
Manager Russell Slade told their official website: "We did everything in our power for Stephen to stay and he was offered an excellent deal.
"He has been a very influential player for us and we didn't want to lose him.
"From my point of view it's imperative that we build a squad around players who want to be here and who want to wear the shirt."
