The Irish striker, 26, has joined the Edinburgh club until June 30.
He has made just 17 appearances since arriving at the Sky Blues in the summer of 2010.
The move to Easter Road sees him join forces again with Coventry team-mate James McPake, who joined Hibs on a similar deal last week.
City chief executive Tim Fisher said: "It's an opportunity for Roy to go out and get first team football and we wish him well."
