Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman admits he could lose players before the transfer window shuts next week.
Right-back Nathaniel Clyne has turned down a new contract amid speculation linking him with a host of top-flight clubs and winger Wilfried Zaha remains a Premier League target despite recently signing a five-year deal.
Tuesday's agonising penalty shootout defeat at Cardiff means Freedman no longer has the carrot of a Carling Cup final appearance to keep the likes of Clyne at Selhurst Park.
But the Scot remains hopeful he can keep his squad together as they look to get back in the play-off picture.
"That's the big question I'm going to be asked and that's what I'm hoping for," he said. "We are on a tight budget, we work hard for each other but unfortunately that's not only my decision."
