Djibril Cisse has apologised for his costly dismissal in Queens Park Rangers' 2-1 defeat to Wolves, but claims he felt the need to make a point.
The French striker was sent off 34 minutes into a crucial clash at Loftus Road on Saturday.
QPR led 1-0 at that stage, but saw Wolves make the most of their numerical advantage in the second half to snatch all three points.
Cisse acknowledges that his rush of blood proved decisive and he has vowed to make amends once his impending suspension has been served.
He is, however, of the opinion that more should have been made of Roger Johnson's potentially dangerous challenge on him.
"I would like to apologise for my stupid reaction which cost us the game. I shouldn't react like this," Cisse posted on his Twitter account.
"I have to say that the tackle was very dangerous and he could have broken my leg.
"After two leg breaks I felt scared and I reacted like this.
"But my reaction was stupid and I feel really bad because I let my team down.
"I promise to make it up to all the fans and my team."
