Frimpong: Ruled out for the rest of the season

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has admitted he could face up to nine months out of action after a serious knee injury halted his loan spell at Wolves.

The 20-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's Barclays Premier League match at QPR.

Frimpong limped off in the 24th minute of the 2-1 win at Loftus Road, and a scan has revealed the severity of the injury.

He wrote on Twitter: "Bad News is that I'm out for 6-9months with my Knee. I wanna thank all the wolves fans for their support since I've been here and really Hope wolves stay up this season."

Statements on both club websites confirmed the player will see specialists in London over the next few days before having surgery and starting a programme of rehabilitation.

Frimpong, who suffered a similar injury to his left knee in 2010, had made an impressive start to his temporary spell at Wolves, catching the eye during his five appearances.

Wolves' statement concluded: "Emmanuel is expected to be out for a number of months and will therefore miss the remainder of this season.

"Everyone at Wolves would like to thank the midfielder for his efforts whilst at the club and join Arsenal in wishing him a swift recovery."

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.
