Cesar Azpilicueta: Heavily linked with Chelsea

Cesar Azpilicueta has not been included in Marseille's squad for Thursday night's Europa League clash with FC Sheriff Tiraspol, fuelling speculation the right-back is on the brink of a move to Chelsea.

Azpilicueta has been linked with the European champions virtually all year and reports in France have claimed an agreement was reached over a transfer fee late on Tuesday night.

It was also suggested the 22-year-old Spaniard, who started Marseille's opening two Ligue 1 games of the season, would sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The fee was said to be undisclosed but it has been reported to be in the region of £7million.

Chelsea stuck to their usual policy of not commenting on transfer speculation.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
