Beckenbauer: Feels Dortmund are the favourites

Borussia Dortmund and not Bayern Munich are now favourites to win the Bundesliga title, according to Franz Beckenbauer.

Defending champions Dortmund, managed by Jurgen Klopp, went two points clear at the top of the table this weekend as their title rivals Bayern were held to a 1-1 draw at Hamburg.

Writing in his column in the Bild newspaper, Bayern honorary president Beckenbauer said: "Kloppo, you are the German champions, you are now the league leaders - and therefore you are the title favourites."

The Germany legend added: "I understand that Klopp wants to keep the players' feet on the ground. But they can also see the table."

Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach are also very much in the title race, with the Royal Blues level on points with Bayern and Gladbach one further back.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

I

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.
