Mark Fotheringham: Looking for new club

Hoffenheim manager Markus Babbel has revealed that Mark Fotheringham's trial spell at the Bundesliga club is to be extended until the end of July.

The former Scotland Under-21 international has struggled to put down roots since leaving Norwich back in 2009.

Since then he has taken in spells at Dundee United, Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus, Livingston and Dundee.

He saw a short-term agreement at Dens Park reach a conclusion at the end of the 2011/12 campaign and the 28-year-old is now on the lookout for a new club and is hoping to impress during a training period with Hoffenheim.

He has prior experience of life in German football having turned out for Freiburg back in 2005/06, and Babbel is prepared to give him every opportunity to prove his worth.

"We have decided to extend his trial," Babbel told spox.com.

"Mark made a good impression during his first two weeks and he did impress. He is also a lad who is settling in well off the pitch. We have come to the conclusion that we will continue to monitor him as a potential signing."

Meanwhile, Babbel has also revealed that Filip Malbasic has joined the playing ranks at Hoffenheim.

The 19-year-old Serbia youth international arrives in Germany from FK Rad Belgrade.

"The deal has gone through," Babbel told the club's official website.

"Filip is a youngster with good skills, he is technically very good. We have signed him to bolster our attacking options."
