The off-field turmoil at Ajax continued on Thursday with the club's supervisory board announcing their resignation along with interim directors Danny Blind and Martin Sturkenboom.

The supervisory board has been split ever since four of the five members appointed Louis van Gaal as chief executive and Sturkenboom as a director.

The fifth member Johan Cruyff claimed he had not been consulted over the moves and filed a lawsuit which was partially upheld by an Amsterdam court on Tuesday.

Van Gaal and Sturkenboom's appointments were blocked, at least in the short term, which prompted today's announcement that the entire board would leave in the "shortest possible time, once successors are found".

Sturkenboom and Blind have also decided to leave following the news they would not be joined by Van Gaal.

Former Holland and Ajax defender Blind said: "I have a clear vision on the future of Ajax and this is consistent with the possible arrival of Louis van Gaal.

"Now, as he is not coming, I myself cannot continue.

"I have spent many years at Ajax, which makes it extra hard to make this decision."

Sturkenboom added: "I have great confidence in the vision and the collaboration with Louis van Gaal and Danny Blind.

"We started this job on the assumption that Louis would come on July 1, 2012.

"Now it is clear that this is not going to happen, it is wise for me and Ajax that I step down."

ou realise this means he'll have more free time to tweet, appear on newsnight, and google philosphers... ban seems about right, but there will never be consistency from the FA, so that completely undermines any possible lesson to the kids. Apart from the lesson about being part of an important cash cow.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.
