Sone Aluko: Convinced Uchrechi of Dons move

The Nigerian striker on Tuesday clinched a deadline-day switch to the Dons from FC Dender for six months with the option of a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old was brought to the attention of Aberdeen manager Craig Brown in the summer but ended up joining npower League One side Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

Uchechi admits he spoke to former Don Aluko, now at Rangers, before making the move to the north-east.

"He (Aluko) only had good things to say about the Dons because without a doubt Aberdeen helped Sone improve as a player and get to where he is," he told www.stv.tv.

"When the club contacted me I spoke to him because we've been friends for quite a while now and he said good things about the club, the players and people.

"I can say my decision was influenced by his opinion."

When asked whether he regretted not moving to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League sooner, he replied: "I wouldn't say it was a difficult decision because I was meant to be here last summer but things happened and I ended up joining Sheffield Wednesday.

"The people at the club are really nice and the players are nice too so everyone has been helpful and great and it wasn't that hard."

On the type of player the Aberdeen fans can expect to see in the second half of the season, Uchechi said: "I'm someone who likes taking on people and attacking and hopefully with the help of the players and management team here then I can learn more and improve my game."

ou realise this means he'll have more free time to tweet, appear on newsnight, and google philosphers... ban seems about right, but there will never be consistency from the FA, so that completely undermines any possible lesson to the kids. Apart from the lesson about being part of an important cash cow.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.
