Craig Brown: Manager of the Month

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown claimed he was "embarrassed" by his award after being named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager of the Month.

The Dons were undefeated in January, beating Dundee United at Tannadice and drawing against Rangers and Kilmarnock before moving into the top six with a 1-0 win over Dunfermline.

But Brown felt Celtic manager Neil Lennon should have won the prize after continuing a three-month domestic run of victories.

And the former Motherwell manager challenged his team to fully merit the forthcoming award in February, beginning with victory in Saturday's clash with Hibernian at Easter Road.

Brown said: "The award is a surprise and a bit of an embarrassment because Neil Lennon has won every match.

"I was told that I won it because of where Aberdeen came from.

"We are doing our best to proceed. We have got various constraints at the moment through injuries.

"Last time I won the award two years ago at Motherwell was more understandable because we had won every game in January.

"I hope we can repeat what happened then because I won it in February as well.

"We have got to push on and try to consolidate in the top six."

Brown still has a lengthy injury list for the weekend, but he is hopeful that Youl Mawene and Clark Robertson will return.

ou realise this means he'll have more free time to tweet, appear on newsnight, and google philosphers... ban seems about right, but there will never be consistency from the FA, so that completely undermines any possible lesson to the kids. Apart from the lesson about being part of an important cash cow.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.
