Steven Howarth has left Motherwell after coming to an agreement to terminate his contract four months before it was due to expire, the Fir Park club have confirmed.

The former Clyde striker signed a one-year deal during the summer after an impressive stint with Well's under-19s.

However, the route to first-team football was blocked by Michael Higdon, Jamie Murphy, Omar Daley, Bob McHugh, Henrik Ojamaa and Gary Smith.

Howarth spent a short spell on loan at Alloa Athletic earlier in the campaign.

ou realise this means he'll have more free time to tweet, appear on newsnight, and google philosphers... ban seems about right, but there will never be consistency from the FA, so that completely undermines any possible lesson to the kids. Apart from the lesson about being part of an important cash cow.

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.
