Stuart McCall: Concentrating on his own side's job

Stuart McCall has no problems with Allan Moore's threat to 'park the bus' when he takes his Morton side to Lanarkshire for Saturday's William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round tie at Fir Park.

Moore claimed he has taken inspiration from Bolton's goalless draw against Arsenal

in midweek and Ayr's valiant effort against Kilmarnock in their Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final defeat at Hampden last week.

Well boss McCall, however, insists the First Division side can use whatever tactics they see fit but is hoping his team will have enough to see them through.

"I did see that story but with the players they have got in their team, they can cause us problems if they are at their best," he said.

"But anyway, you want to try to get through to the next round and if that is the way they decide they will go, then that is down to them.

"Whatever way they go about it, it is not a problem for me,

"It's about how we concentrate on our job.

"We have had two home games with six goals and six points, we've bounced back and we have to focus on that and be on the front foot from the first whistle."

McCall's task should be made easier by the presence of highly-rated Jamie Murphy

who knocked back a deadline day bid from Championship side Blackpool.

The former Bradford boss said: "I half-expected that we would lose one player in this window.

"I was disappointed that we accepted the bid but I understood the club's position and then I was delighted when Jamie decided to stay.

"It might be in the summer that Jamie moves on but he is an intelligent lad and I believe if he can produce the form that he is capable of more consistently - he has done it in flashes this season - then we will be talking double of what we were offered."

Murphy, 22, insists that if and when he leaves Motherwell it will only be when he is good and ready.

The former Scotland under-21 player's decision to stay in Scotland was something of a surprise but he explained it by simply saying: "I am happy here at the moment.

"I discussed the offer with my mum and dad and decided it wasn't for me.

"A big factor is that we are doing well in the league and cup this season so I am just looking forward to the rest of the season here.

"I think a lot of of people just expected me to go but I am not just going to jump away as soon as I can because there was one bid made on the last day of January.

"I hope there will be other offers in the future.

"I have scored eight goals this season and so obviously there is a lot of room for improvement between now and the end of the season and you never know there might be a bid there in the summer.

"I hope the gaffer is pleased and it is my job to repay him by giving it my best until the end of the season."

here has only been 3 players who made me hold my breath in dread when they picked the ball up anywhere near our penalty area...in their prime Scholes and Giggs... and always Drogba. Awesome player who on his day was the best striker in the world in my opinion.

I

remember him scoring a 25-yarder, either the season just gone or the one before, against Bolton at the Reebok. I've never seen a ball hit that hard before in my entire life. You could almost feel the shockwave from his foot contacting it 40 yards away in the stands. Didier Droga. You might not have loved him, but you just had to be in awe of him.
