AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says on-loan Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is “desperate” to stay at the San Siro but “does not merit a permanent deal”.
Balotelli, 25, rejoined the Serie A giants on a season-long loan deal in the summer after scoring just four goals in 27 appearances in his debut campaign at Liverpool.
But the controversial Italian has failed to recapture the form which saw him score 30 goals in 54 games for the Rossoneri.
“We really like Mario, but he has to convince us to earn a permanent deal,” Galliani said.
“Mario is feeling well. He is desperate to stay here at Milan. But like I have said before, he does not merit a permanent deal at the moment.”
The former Manchester City forward, who will have two years remaining on his Liverpool contract in the summer, has scored three goals in 17 appearances this term.
