Addicks cruise to maximum haul

The Addicks showed why they are among the favourites for a swift return to the Championship with a composed performance.
Two goals in three first-half minutes earned the points for Phil Parkinson’s side, although they had keeper Rob Elliott to thank for a clean sheet as five minutes in he pushed out a Denis Behan piledriver from distance.
The opening goal came after 24 minutes when Pools skipper Sam Collins failed to clear properly and Steve Haslam’s header back to keeper Scott Flinders fell short allowing Deon Burton to nip in and lob the ball home.
Number two arrived thanks to a surging run down the right flank by Lloyd Sam whose deep cross into the danger area was firmly headed in at the far post by skipper Nicky Bailey.
It was almost three after 55 minutes as Andy Monkhouse had to clear a Therry Racon effort off the line while Pools’ best chance came when Elliott made a fine reaction stop to deny Antony Sweeney from close range.
