Dick Advocaat has revealed that he has decided on his Sunderland future, but will not yet reveal his choice.

The Dutchman’s future at the club has been placed in serious doubt amid claims he is ready to walk away from the job.

But speaking after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with West Ham, Advocaat appeared to hint that he wanted more time to consider his future.

“I don’t want to give an answer,” he said. “Today I am the manager, what will happen in the next weeks, months, I cannot say.”

Asked if he will be manager for the next game, he added: “I cannot say that. The newspapers have to have something to write otherwise there is nothing in the newspapers.”

Pressed further on his future, Advocaat confirmed he had decided whether or not he would remain manager, but said that he will reveal his choice in the coming days.

On the draw, the Dutchman added: “The way we played today was very, very positive for everybody. There was not a player who was not in the game.

“We showed the commitment that you need in football defensively, but also when we had the ball. It was a joy to watch from the side and also for the crowd.

“Overall, I am very proud of what they showed today, the commitment was really great.”
